The purpose of the Workbook is to train your mind in a systematic way to a different perception of everyone and everything in the world. The very nature of true perception is that it has no limits.
It is the opposite of the way you see now. And now, at last, it's happening.

Students and teachers of A Course in Miracles are experiencing the transformational symptoms the Course promises as the Great Awakening manifests Itself in the undoing of your perceptual mind. In fact, it is very unlikely that simply your application of the daily Workbook lessons has not included some "light episodes." Stand by now for some indescribable joy, and a myriad of forms of physical and mental phenomena. A passionate intensity of awakening often confused with eroticism, physical ailments...or even alien abductions, near-death experiences or lucid dreams. The physical transformation is your resurrection and the miraculous healing of your mind/body/world association.

Remember, you have invented the world you see,
including the body you seemingly inhabit.

It is very difficult to enlighten it since the body is literally a thick thoughtform image in which you enshroud yourself in your own imagination, a holographic hallucination covering Truth, emanating from your own mind. Reasonably, the change of your mind must include changes in your body association since you believe that you are a body.

The Workbook Introduction says that even though you may not believe, accept, or even welcome the ideas in the lessons, none of that even matters or decreases their efficacy. So you are really asking for the miracle as you apply the lessons. Your body is included in your distorted perception as a dense covering over miracle impulses. And, since miracles are thoughts which rearrange perception, you will experience miracle impulses which you will at first interpret as physical impulses because they are energetic - inducing action in form. They may not always be especially convenient as they are not under your direction.

Your distorted perception of yourself as a self-identity living and dying in a body is,
for a moment, based upon your memories of the past and you may associate
your miraculous physical and mental changes with those old ideas.

You may interpret them as psychotic, sexual, painful or even frightening. Remember to apply the lessons you are learning - you do not know what anything is for - you do want to see things differently - there is nothing to fear! And remember that you have placed yourself under the Atonement principle where your perception is healed as you learn to release the inner light from the fog of your imaginary world of fear and separation. You always attempted to defend yourself against the light in your need to protect your body. It is wholly neutral and is undergoing the change in your mind, which is not under your control. You need do nothing!

The miracle is collapsing time for you, and since your body is one of your
timely manifestations, it may feel as if your body itself is collapsing!

The miracle, an intercession into your mind/body imagery, is acting as a catalyst to reorganize it. It sparks quantum reassociations in your mind and your nervous system, your glandular system, your brain. Your skull literally changes shape. Your very cells are learning to communicate as one; your mind/body imagery is actually rebirthing into a harmonious association of brighter light energy. It is important that you understand that this is a natural occurrence; miracles are natural, and simply a very positive sign that you are awakening from your dream of separation.

Part of your transformative process is purification, as mentioned in Miracle Principle No. 7, which is literally the forgiveness or the giving away of all the idols you have established as your justification for your self-identity (special relationships, money, power, the attraction to death, sickness, pain, your beliefs about your body and your world). Naturally, the purification of your mind includes the purification of your body and your stored ideas, grievances, past experiences et. al. within your cellular memory.

Your willingness allows your perceptual mind to receive the miracle,
which sparks your awareness of the Love, Light and Strength of God
into a blaze of light that fills your mind and your cellular structure.

Naturally, you feel God when you let Him move through you, and His gentle light shines like the morning sun melting away the darkness of night. He literally shines away your rings of fear, your memories of isolation, sickness, pain and death. You are remembering your inheritance!

You may notice that your practice of the Workbook lessons becomes increasingly intense while you are loosening your hold on the world you invented.

It is not unusual to feel moments of total confusion, anxiety, frustration or intense fear along with the changes in your body. This is, of course, addressed in the Teacher's Manual. It is very disorienting to unexpectedly and momentarily experience the holy instant, the light, and to be revealed in your true nature as an eternally extending, totally abstract thought of God. And you will tend to perhaps retreat for a moment to grasp again the banks of familiar memory upon which you have established your identity in limitation. Yet once you experience revelation and the miraculous light of Heaven shines on you, the end is certain, and the means as well.

Almost immediately you will begin to feel the pain of your grasping,
the pain of your human condition.

Remember, you are simply unaccustomed to living and loving in the light of God. For only a moment, you lost communication. You dropped into a gap and have been living in a senseless association of your storehouse of memories, momentarily forgetting the delightful freedom of your natural state. And now, as you awaken from your nightmare of sickness, pain and death, the comparison of your old meaningless dead world with the incredible freedom and joy of the real world is often initially overwhelming.

Energetically, you have literally compressed yourself
into your tiny bubble of separation.

In the human condition as an "ego," using all the power of God to hold yourself together, directing yourself and your imagined world inside the tension of your grip on your mind/ body configuration. As you recognize you are responsible for your world and your painful, grievous defense/ attack modality, as you see the futility of a fleeting existence based upon over and gone imagery, and as you recognize there is another world, you open joyously to the miracle. Since you need do nothing in the unraveling of yourself, you will experience increasingly frequent moments in the holy instant, where you are limitless. Where you sense an exciting, new, full body awareness. Where you feel relaxed and lifted up as you discover yourself entering into light. You may initially feel uncomfortable or even guilty in the experience of such freedom, and force yourself back into false isolation by actively resisting. Yet you will become increasingly delighted and joyful as you let yourself be carried into your true state. Your mind and your body are literally being transfigured to a moment between time and eternity.

You are learning to put your faith into a gentle, new kind of experience
of yourself which has nothing at all to do with a body or the world of
images where you thought you lived.

Your mind is literally becoming free, and so is your body. The miracle of yourself as unlimited love, eternally extending Great Rays, is going on all the time and you will release into yourself more and more frequently as you learn to forgive yourself and your apparently external world, and simply let your conceptual mind go.

...the miracle entails a sudden shift from horizontal to vertical perception
…and this is the shift of your awareness to true perception.

From projecting outwards to focusing inwards and looking upwards to your Source. You literally experience yourself "shining in your mind," knowing your Self as the light of the world.

Each moment you return into the certain holiness of the sensational,
radiant Great Rays emanating in your mind,
extending healing power from your sanctified body.

Wholly integrated and living under His charge and direction, you habitually include everything in your world into the Teacher of God you have become through your Course in Miracles. Your mind/body configuration has become a perfect vehicle of communication in holy relationship with the world through your forgiveness and extension of the healing light and love of God.

Now are you welcoming your resurrection from the tomb
of your transient human condition…

…out of the morass of your egoic, chaotic, isolated memory association. Remember that God's angels hover near and all about, and you are joined by mighty companions in these final moments.

Thus has learning come almost to its appointed end. A while I work with Him to serve His purpose. Then I lose myself in my Identity, and recognize that Christ is but my Self.

At last are You taking Your place among the Saviors of the world.

Salvation's song will echo through the world with every choice they make. For we are one in purpose, and the end of hell is near. Thy Will is done, complete and perfectly, and all creation recognizes You, and knows You as the only Source it has. Clear in Your likeness does the Light shine forth from everything that lives and moves in You. For we have reached where all of us are one, and we are home, where You would have us be.
